See the wave before it misses the carrier window

Sortwyre compares planned vs. actual induct rate per wave, surfacing lag early enough for ops to act — add inductors, release held inventory, or adjust the next wave start.

Fundamentals

Wave planning vs. continuous flow

Wave planning batches orders into discrete release windows aligned to carrier pickup times. Continuous flow releases orders as they become available. Both models require throughput monitoring — but they fail differently.

Wave planning

Orders released in defined windows. High throughput bursts aligned to carrier pickups. Risk: wave runs behind plan and misses carrier window. Sortwyre tracks plan-vs-actual per wave with a countdown to the window close.

Continuous flow

Orders released as inventory becomes available. Smoother induction load, but harder to align to carrier windows. Risk: throughput drifts below target without a wave structure to anchor against. Sortwyre tracks rolling PPH vs. shift target.

Dashboard

Plan vs. actual in real time

Sortwyre shows planned induct rate vs. actual induct rate on a per-wave timeline. Lag becomes visible as it develops — not after the carrier window has passed.

Actions

Wave adjustment workflow

Early lag detection

Sortwyre flags a wave as at-risk when actual induct rate falls more than 10% below plan for 5+ consecutive minutes. Alert shows projected miss time at current trajectory.

Carrier window countdown

Each active wave shows time-to-carrier-window alongside a progress bar: pieces inducte vs. pieces required. No arithmetic required — ops sees the gap directly.

Inductor staffing signal

When a wave is running behind, Sortwyre calculates how many additional inductors are needed to close the gap before the window. Simple, actionable number for the shift supervisor.

WMS order integration

Sortwyre pulls wave structure from your WMS order management layer. As planned waves update, Sortwyre recalibrates the actual-vs-plan comparison automatically.
